Proteïne Kruidnoten

Protein Gingerbread

December, the month of the perpeno... oh no. Gingerbread!

Faunus has been busy lately working with cooking Piet to make the gingerbread nuts just a little bit healthier, and with success!

Piet and Faunus have made delicious protein gingerbread nuts! Of course with the 100% Organic Protein from Faunus.

What do you need?

  • 100 grams whole wheat flour
  • 30 grams Faunus Protein Powder (vanilla or natural)
  • 50 grams of butter (melted)
  • 50 grams of honey or agave syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon speculaas spices (or a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger powder)
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk or plant-based milk (as needed)

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.

  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, Faunus protein powder, speculaas spices and a pinch of salt.

  3. Cut the butter into cubes and add it to the dry mixture. Knead the mixture with your hands until it forms a crumbly dough. If the dough is too dry, add 2-3 tablespoons of milk to bring it together into a cohesive dough.

  4. Roll the dough on a floured work surface into a long thin roll. Cut small pieces of the dough and roll them between your palms into small balls (kruidnoten).

  5. Place the gingerbread nuts on the baking tray and flatten them slightly.

  6. Bake the gingerbread nuts for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and done. Keep a close eye on the gingerbread nuts, because the baking time can vary per oven.

  7. Allow the gingerbread nuts to cool before serving.

Enjoy your delicious (slightly healthier) protein gingerbread nuts!
