Protein Gingerbread
Share
What do you need?
- 100 grams whole wheat flour
- 30 grams Faunus Protein Powder (vanilla or natural)
- 50 grams of butter (melted)
- 50 grams of honey or agave syrup
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon speculaas spices (or a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger powder)
- pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons milk or plant-based milk (as needed)
Preparation method
-
Preheat the oven to 160°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
-
In a bowl, mix the flour, Faunus protein powder, speculaas spices and a pinch of salt.
-
Cut the butter into cubes and add it to the dry mixture. Knead the mixture with your hands until it forms a crumbly dough. If the dough is too dry, add 2-3 tablespoons of milk to bring it together into a cohesive dough.
-
Roll the dough on a floured work surface into a long thin roll. Cut small pieces of the dough and roll them between your palms into small balls (kruidnoten).
-
Place the gingerbread nuts on the baking tray and flatten them slightly.
-
Bake the gingerbread nuts for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and done. Keep a close eye on the gingerbread nuts, because the baking time can vary per oven.
-
Allow the gingerbread nuts to cool before serving.
Enjoy your delicious (slightly healthier) protein gingerbread nuts!
